We are delighted to welcome Deputy Premier and Minister for Education and Early Learning, the Hon. Prue Car MP, and The Secretary, NSW Department of Education, Murat Dizdar to present at our 2024 Back-to-School Webinar and Q&A.

This special event for parents and carers will highlight some of the key focus areas of the new Plan for NSW Public Education, explore the challenges parents and schools are facing and provide an opportunity for you to ask questions.

We will discuss:

• School funding reforms
• Inclusive learning environments
• Equitable outcomes
• Parents as partners in the learning journey
• The power of explicit instruction in the classroom

The Hon. Prue Car MP
NSW Deputy Premier & Minister for Education and Early Learning, NSW Government

The Honourable Prue Car MP has represented the Western Sydney seat of Londonderry in NSW Parliament since 2015 and was appointed to her current roles following the March 2023 NSW election. In August 2023 she was appointed Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education.

In her role as Minister for Education and Early Learning, Prue has prioritised listening to teachers, principals, and parents about improving the NSW education system to ensure every child can achieve their potential.

Prue believes teaching is one of our state’s most important professions and is passionate about ensuring every child in every school receives a world-class education. Together with the Premier of NSW, Chris Minns, Prue is committed to working hard for the people of NSW.

Murat Dizdar
The Secretary, NSW Department of Education

Murat Dizdar PSM is the Secretary of the NSW Department of Education, which delivers quality education and training services for the people of New South Wales. This includes the Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) sector, government and non-government schools, and the Vocational Education and Training sector.

Murat’s career began as a social sciences teacher at Ashcroft High School. He has experience in a range of school leadership roles, including senior principal of Belmore and Punchbowl Boys High Schools.

Prior to commencing as Secretary, Murat co-led the School Performance division. This team provides support to 95,000 teachers and school leaders – across more than 2,200 schools – to deliver a high-quality education for more than 790,000 students.

Yvonne Hilsz
President, P&C Federation NSW

Yvonne Hilsz, P&C Federation President, Board Member since 2021 and previous President of Birchgrove Public School P&C Association, has an extensive, proven record in developing successful fundraising initiatives for P&C Associations. Her various roles in the not-for-profit sector and as a business coach provide her with unique insight on how to develop methods of fundraising that will benefit your P&C community for years to come.

Yvonne views the role of a P&C as a collaborative force with the school’s vision, elevating possibilities through funding and support, and partnering with the Principal and faculty for cohesive efforts.

Always seeking innovation, Yvonne has facilitated technology-driven fundraising events and quickly pivoted strategies to maintain robust funding for significant school projects. She holds a core belief in engagement and inclusivity, with an open-minded approach to solutions, recognising the opportunity and responsibility to enhance children’s education, and create a safe and aspirational environment for them to thrive.
