The Minister's Student Council, known as the DOVES (Department of Student Voices in Education and Schools), was created in 2021, following a request from the NSW Government to develop a formal structure to access student views. The DOVES represent a diverse range of student voices that have a direct and positive influence on education and school policy. The council advocates for positive student engagement an inclusivity through educational improvement and innovation of NSW schools.
Meetings are held twice a term, either in-person or virtually, enabling students to openly discuss issues to be raised with the Deputy Premier and further contribute to positive change and outcomes to make NSW the best education system in the country. To ensure wider and diverse student consultation on matters that are current and important, DOVES forums are also held in metropolitan and regional areas.
Applications are now open and will close at 5pm on Friday 22 December 2023 (Week 10, Term 4). Applicants will be shortlisted and interviewed respectively in Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 1, 2024. Successful applicants will be announced and appointed to the DOVES Council mid-Term 1, 2024.
